I am full stack developer and my current work uses outdated front end and back end languages. I am leetcoding in all my free time but I realize that I need to update my tech skills such as React JS, Node/Express, docker, etc. Companies such as Stripe ask you to fix bugs/projects so my fear is I won’t be able to do them because of my outdated stack. Has anyone faced this issue and how do you balance it out.
I'd try to set aside some time for 1 LC a day if possible. In down time, between meetings, when you start work, whenever. Also, TC or GTFO
This is just difficult to do in general, even 1lc a day is not enough imo but if done consistently maybe.
Agree with this. 1 LC / day = 0 LC / day. For me, I have to grind 10 / day for at least 2 weeks to actually make any progress.
Same boat need guidance
You don't. You stop leetcode and learn a new tech for a while and then go back to leetcode when you're satisfied. At least that's what I do.
What’s your FAANG success rate with that strategy?
I can’t tell if this is a dis or an actual question. I haven’t tried for FAANG yet. I just started programming a couple of years ago. When applying I will probably only leetcode.
Depending on your YOE but i find it difficult to get past the recruiter screening without having experience with modern languages or frameworks that align with the position unless it’s FANG.
This is difficult to do simultaneously. I have done 500+ LC over the last couple of years and I have also substantially upgraded my skillset. I did the following strategy: Dedicate free time exclusively to LC until I learn 100 new problems. Then switch gears and pick a tech are to focus on and do a project/ learn. In this phase I would repeat the 100 LC. Spaced repetition is very important. Then go do another 100 LC. This time focus on revising the tech area so you don’t forget it. This is my general strategy.
You suffer and grind and have no life for a while, unless you’re an excellent developer.
