I worked on Google Fitbit & Microsoft Bing during my product design internship at an agency. I’m really proud of the work, but I’m unsure how to show in my portfolio - whats the best way to communicate an NDA work? I’ve seen the password protected approach but interested what you guys think.. I’m hesitant because they can still be reproduced/screenshot and the project I worked on are prototypes of new UI of these big b2c products Bing/Fitbit.. or am i missing something? I’m aiming for a new grad role and need advice to best communicate my capabilities. Thanks! #ui/ux #design #interviews #portfolio #nda #intern
Take out the branding, you can talk around that at the interview. “This project was for a client that’s known for its moonshots” kind of thing.
That’s a good idea
I once interviewed a candidate from a FANG company where they just abstracted any identifying information and branding. While it was sufficiently confidential, it was still useful enough for us to judge their skills. It was pretty fun, actually.
Interested to learn more! So even though it was obvious where and what product I worked from my resume,I can remove the branding etc down to the most simple essense of the work and just describe things at high level?
No, their presentation was highly detailed about the processes - not high level at all. Just the specific branding and exact metrics were replaced with fake info. Imagine your typical case study, but different names, logos, key metrics, etc. It was above and beyond thorough in obfuscating the data but you could tell this person was highly skilled at the job by their process and storytelling. We ended up hiring the person and they did great.
Treat the work the way you’d want them to see you treating their confidential work after you leave.
Redact the info that's confidential or make some materials to demonstrate your skills without proprietary info.
