How to best use internal referrals at Apple and Google?
I have several friends and past coworkers at Apple and Google at all levels including direcotrs. What’s the best way to leverage them when applying for a job? Does a referral from a director count more than one from an IC? Should I have more than one person refer me for the same job?
10 referrals for the same position doesn’t make any sense. If the hiring manager gets irritated he won’t consider you. Get one referral. And referrals can get you only an interview call, rest depends on you performance at interview.
Actually apply to be considered. Don’t just rely on the internal referral. Also, apply to a lot of positions.
Just make sure you pass the interview basically. If you get referred you will get interview (unless headcount for your level is full, so ask your referrers beforehand)
I won’t care what a director thinks but I will care if a person I trust refers you to me. Always connect with hiring manager.
