Started looking into stocks recently and frankly speaking yahoo finance sucks big time. Almost lost a bunch of money because they don't have the latest price and my fidelity account wasn't setup to refresh the latest price. Yahoo finance is so popular and yet they are super slow in showing the prices. And we all know how slow Robinhood price updates are, they even manipulate prices to give bad deals to their customers lol! So yeah, How can i build a yahoo finance like website. Any pointers would be appreciated. What do i know so far? - Yahoo finance sucks and a potential solution can be very popular. - I have experience with javascript stack (MERN), aws, web scraping, linux etc. #tech
If you got the engineering bits for backend and front end - I can support the UXR & UXD for the product - dm me if you really about it
Google finance is one of the best in the business! I have been using it for over 6 years now and haven’t observed any slowness/lag in latest price ever.
You will need to pay for real time data. That's what all brokers do. Notice how some brokers show you data for futures (TD Ameritrade) while others like Robinhood don't? That's because they have to pay to get the data and show it to their customers
doesn't yahoo list their data sources? just pull from them
they mention that nasdaq data is real time, i highly doubt what they mean by real time.
i mean the other numbers like short interest and stuff. just find where they are getting numbers from
