Anyone has any tips on canceling Comcast without spending hours with them and having your call transferred multiple times? We just moved to a place that no longer needs Comcast and it is a pain in the butt calling them to cancel the subpar service. #internet #cancelcomcast #remote #keepyoursoul UPDATE: we were able to cancel Comcast after 15 minutes on the call, and get some refund as well. Thanks for all your help!
You should be firm about cancelling. The phone option to reach cancel Dept is usually fielded by a manager who has authority to throw incentives to change your mind.
I’ve always done it via their online chat. Then when they ask why you want to cancel I always say I’m moving out of the country. Usually only takes around 15min!
This is a nice one, should work every time.
Yup I told them I’m moving to Canada. 5 minutes on the phone then drop off hardware and get a receipt and I’m done.
Stop paying the bill.
Tell them your moving abroad to a remote location with no internet. No manager bullshit, took me a whole 15 minutes
This. Told them I’m moving out of the country.
I did the online chat and was done in 5 mins.
Find a place in the us where they have no service and tell them you are moving there. Works all the time. You will be done in five minutes max.
I’ve done it a few times and there is ONE super useful thing you can do that works every single time - “hey, I’m calling to cancel my service because I’m moving abroad next week”. They give up on trying to upsell you on something else right away.
Talk with the person on the phone like they’re the human that they are, have a heart to heart and chat about something positive — the past year’s been hard on a lot of folks, probably including the person you’re giving a call to. I called to cancel my Comcast service when moving and I just talked about how I was driving across the country to visit my parents and was bringing my guitar. Next thing I know we’re chatting about Led Zepplin and I not only avoided a cancellation fee, but they backtracked the service to months earlier and issued ME a refund. Just be kind and compassionate and the world will treat you well :)
But why do I have to have a “heart to heart” with a stranger, so they can allow me to cancel a service I am paying for and am completely within my right to cancel?
Why not “soul to soul”?
Walk into a store with your equipment, get a receipt for cancellation.
