I couldn't clear the phone interview of Amazon. Coding question was to remove duplicates from link list. Implement singleton and name some design patterns. A question on past project. That's it. Recruiter never called back for two weeks. After I sent daily reminders, a reply came advising to apply after ten months. No feedback. Same experience in Oracle bmc. Was asked to detect cycle in directed graph. Question on past project. Recruiter never replied for 10 days and then sent rejection refusing to provide feedback. So interviewers what do you expect in these phone interviews? The questions I have encountered were so easy and I asked clarification questions. Explained designs and tradeoffs. Coded the solution and tested it. Explained runtime complexity. So what could be missing. Solutions were syntetically correct as I ran them afterwards.
What was your solution? Did you practice on leetcode?
Try other companies ?
I can't either
Drop the phone 2 floors or more and you will get a crack phone screen
Op change the title, ignore this joke
You are really going to have to network in your area of expertise. People hire people they think they know and you need a hookup.
If you can't clear phone, you better go back to practice more to solve quickly and cover all the basic topics. You basically need to solve around 100+ leetcode questions (with solid understanding about optimal solution) to clear most of phone interviews comfortably. Onsite is much much harder and add the fact that there are many bad interviewers.
Onsite is easier to me, I struggle more to explain over a phone than with whiteboard
Remove duplicates from single linked list is an easy problem. Did you code fast and efficiently? If you can't clear it then you need to practice a lot. You wouldn't have cleared it even at MSFT. Practice a lot!
"design patterns" We need to get rid of this, just hang up / walk out if you get asked that.
What's wrong with it
It might as well be testing you for never-used vocab. Or Latin.
I think you may need to practice a little more before the interviews. It sucks but that’s the way it is. You’d probably be able to do those problems on the job, but not within the time constraints of an interview.

What happens when most of your team is Indian?
You can just drop your phone making sure the edge hits the ground first. Otherwise, just smack with a metal hammer.
