Me and my wife are lucky to be in a financially stable situation. I find it really difficult to spend money on luxury (business class, expensive hotels). At the same time I don't feel I am ready to give it away in charity. How do you folks decide where to spend money? Do you feel okay buying expensive things/experiences? Experiences >>>> things. YOLO
Things > Experiences. You don’t get to take either to the grave, but at least things last longer than experiences. Memories fade eventually, but some expensive things might actually outlive you.
save it for your kids
Let the kids enjoy yoyr networth and you live like homeless?
not traveling via business class is not living like a homeless. Idea is for him to save money for good, if he does not want to do charity, nor he wants to spend on himself
I had my first Hermès birkin when I was 28. I just don’t care 🤷♀️
Those are investments.
I look at all of my friends and realize they couldn’t afford what I can, so then I just go and live my life knowing I worked for this. Oh, and sometimes I bring them along as well. As for physical goods, realize that buying things puts money into other’s hands, boosting our economy.
Nw?
Doesn’t Facebook match charity donations up to a certain amount? Your potential impact to a good cause is instantly doubled, sounds like a no brainer to me
It’s gonna be especially tough to shake buyer’s remorse if you didn’t grow up with money. But hey, if there’s shit you nerd out about, things that will make you love and appreciate life more, go for it already!! This is your sign!!
So long as you don't have any major debt and all your bills can be paid without issue if you make the purchase, you should be good. It can sometimes help having a separate savings account just to store fun money. A bit from each paycheck can go there. That's what I do :)
Be kind and do what makes you guys happy. For us that’s traveling, good food, etc. Pre COVID we’d “splurge” on premium economy for intl travel and stay at hotels in the $200-300+ range, or up to $500 for b&b type places.
No! You can't feel okay. That's life
