How to find new grad jobs in computer vision?

Just graduated with my BS, having a tough time finding a full-time position in computer vision. I have done 2 internships (1 in cv), and will have 14 months of research experience by the end of the summer. Any tips to help me find a ft? I've been sending out a lot of applications on LinkedIn and Indeed, and I haven't been getting many hits. I also have the backup option of doing my MS at a T50 school, but would rather wait and aim for top-tier schools at a later time

Specialized fields like computer vision are increasingly looking for Ms or PhD. If you're really into it I think you should continue in school. I made the same choice, to work instead of study, and I feel limited now. Also consider that life has it's turns, sometimes unpredictable, which might make it very hard to go back to school later, mentally and financially. Btw, wtf are you doing at Intel ?

I think ex-Intel intern

Question is still valid.

Just wondering why given an extra year you would get into a better school (how much better?). If you are going for a PhD, what are the sample schools that you can get into? Provided that you have the requisite GRE and GPA, that's more about which professors are interested in your potential for their research groups. Unless you wanted to get into Google Brain or FB FAIR, the school where you get your CS PhD doesn't matter as much (top 50 is fine). MS are cash cows, usually for H1Bs to get better priority. See CMU, which even has a MS in Product Management among other things. If you have a top 15 school for your undergrad CS, that's good enough for most SWE jobs at FANG. But maybe a top 15 MS will help a little bit for Computer Vision if you specialize in related coursework. All it does I think is to check a box for recruiters. Once you get the call, it's mostly about Leetcode ability.

This year I will get a substantial amount more research experience, including at least one first author publication in a top venue. This should help my application a lot since my GPA/GRE are already near perfect (lack of research exp was what hurt me). Talking to advisors, I should be able to get T15 at minimum if I re-apply. My undergrad is T50 as well, which is making it hard for me to get interviews and such

Stop doing useless research. Make a website. Put up a GitHub. Make startup pitches. Sell yourself!

Why is research useless? It feels like for cv/ML, you need grad school and research experience especially for some of the higher paid & more researchy roles (like fair/brain/deepmind/etc)

If you can't find FT employment, FAIR/Brain/Deepmind/etc is probably out of reach for you. It's really not research that gets you these roles, it's independence and capability. I'd focus heavily on the business side to ensure you understand the business model and why they are pursuing this type of work. If you can't generate solid proposals, don't expect success, either academically or in industry.
