How to get highest Google offer

I am expecting an offer from Google sometime in the next week. I passed HC and am going to offer review this Tuesday. I don’t have any competing offers - am I out of luck? Should I try to interview with other companies ASAP? Or should I just give up and try and leverage my existing comp? I already failed FB and I hadn’t planned on interviewing anywhere else - I’m just not interested. I like the teams at G a lot, I just want to make sure I don’t get screwed. Edit: around 2 yrs exp, what should I expect for TC? I’ve seen around 250k offers but I’m not sure if that is the norm. I make around 200k TC right now.

Get multiple offers. Use triplebyte. Stall google. Otherwise, use your current comp as a baseline. Don’t settle for less than your current comp. Be ready to walk away if they low ball. (They will come back with another offer, don’t you worry) Don’t accept an equity discount.

I can try to get more offers then, but I heard Google has 1 week offer expiration. Is this true?

Are you sure they will come back if you threaten to walk? I wonder how many have tried and Google never countered?

how was the interview?

VMware eLsJ64 Mar 9, 2018

what kind of question they asked?

I’m under nda but just do leetcode... make sure you study graphs

Facebook orDB76 Mar 9, 2018

Fb is best bet for counter, sorry you didn't get it. Airbnb or current comp aren't bad (xoogler)

Several considerations: 1. How well you performed in interview will largely determine TC 2. Competing offers significantly improve TC numbers. 3. Willingness to walk away from offer creates urgency for HC, especially if you had great team match. I’m going through same process now but I’m also interviewing with other companies. Hoping it will help. Good luck

All very good points. Listen to this guy

Thanks razz. Now can you help with my TC please 😆😆

Easy thing is not provide your expectation. As per WA rules, companies are not allowed to cap your salaries based on current situation. Quote higher that’s it. If they need you they will pay up.

Can anyone from google confirm how long the offer is valid for? Is there an option to join at a later date or not do the interview again if offer is declined.

Google xOIU50 Mar 10, 2018

Recruiters will sometimes put a time limit, but only if candidates are wishy-washy and putting off signing. You can definitely postpone a start date, but I wouldn't push off signing the offer letter for more than a few weeks, otherwise it WILL damage your credibility. If you decline your offer, it's actually pretty easy to re-engage as long as you are polite and tactful (hard balling can get you blacklisted. I've personally seen it)

Mine was a week but there wasn't a problem extending it another week

Google bupkis2 Mar 10, 2018

If you like your team and it's a comp increase, go for it. Don't worry about haggling. If comp is important to you and you like working hard you will have opportunities to make piles of cash. So much that you'll laugh thinking back to wanting to haggle few extra bucks in your initial offer.

Can’t equity vary a lot? I heard that the equity refreshers will not increase much after initial grant - I ran into that at Uber after promo, I was lowballed L3 and then I had no change going to L4 outside of bonus

Google bupkis2 Mar 10, 2018

You get equity refreshes every year. They generally aren't as high as your initial Grant but it's serious money. 80 to 120k range for t4. Those also best over 4 years concurrent with your other grants

Why don't you directly tell the recruiter your expectations ? Just tell him that you are doing decently at Uber and don't sound desperate. Tell him/her your expectation to make a move is somewhere around 300 and hope that Google will make a similar offer and see how it goes
