Few ideas: 1) Ban short term rentals (AirBnbs) like New York did. 2) 3x property tax rate for investment homes 3) Stop all rental income tax breaks. 4) Mortgage rate for investment homes should have a +2% premium 5) Special tax on corporates owning residential house. Helps with the deficit problem as well. What do you guys think?
This is a free market. If you are not able to aford a house, it's your problem. Work harder and smarter to make more money. No socialismďź
Upzone, build a buttload of housing, remove things like discretionary review, tax all land extremely aggressively with permanent abatements for improvements
Tax the heck off every new property after your primary principal residence if that it is a normal residential home(not recreational)
Don't tax property, just tax land. That way you don't create distortions and discourage development. And tax all land, not just rental properties.
stay broke!

Instead of trying to punish the rich, you should focus on becoming the rich. Donât be poor people
I am plenty rich likely more than you if you are getting into that d** measuring contest. I just despise greedy people who are hoarding homes and make it unaffordable for future generations because they donât know how to invest elsewhere
To op, if you are rich, you should be no problem to buy houses for your children. No need to complain here. I immigrated to US 10yrs ago with nothing, but I'm owning 10+ properties nowadays because of my hard work. Solve your own problem to become rich first
Eliminate corp from residential real estate and limit the amount of real estate each person can have/ rent.
The solution is not to restrict what people can do, it's to give people as many options as possible. Rentals are fine, there's no reason we should be pushing people into buying. The issue is lack of housing supply, and the only long term solution to that problem is building more.
The supply is constrained because people are essentially hoarding housing. There are many posts here where ppl achieved FIRE because they own and rent out 5-20 property. Imagine if they are only limited to 2. Suddenly you free up a lot of supply. Furthermore landlords are actually really bad for the economy because they don't contribute to the output.
Build more houses. Make corporate housing for workers so people can live farther away but come to office when needed.
Lawmakers are all homeowners and corporations bruh, they have 0 interest in doing any of these

Broke people, have a broken mind. They donât think how to create something, but only how to destroy something. Youâll never be able to do afford shit unless you change the way you think.
I own a house. Just donât hoard and price gauge that my future generations canât afford. If you are one of those price gaugers, shame on you sir!
I can afford plenty, but hate seeing hordes of homeless and people struggling to get by. Some of yâall clearly donât have friends or extended family outside of your tiny little bubble.
