How to negotiate more time to reply to offers?

Hi folks, I started interviews a month ago and today I received my first offer (verbally). I believe I should have another one/two coming next week. However, all these offers are from small/startup companies, and I just started to receive phone screen/1st round from bigger companies (Airbnb/Twitch etc.). This offer I received today they’re not in a hurry for me to reply but would like to hear back from me about a week after I received the formal offer. How should I negotiate more time to decide? I’m on H1b so I don’t plan to take the offer and leave after a couple weeks. Thank you! TC 133 YoE 5 #corpfinance #finance #offer #negotiate #negotiateoffer #negotiation

How long do you expect these small start-ups to wait? If you needed a week or two that'd probably be fine, but you are barely into the interview process for the bigger companies. Do you expect the small companies to sit around for 2 months waiting for you to make a decision?

Usually you would start working the big company offers first and then engage startups towards the end.

You usually get about a week to think over an offer. Take the week. Then agree to start but push your start date as far as they will let you . If Airbnb or whoever gets back to you before you start just jump to them. If it’s after you start decide if it’s worth the change.
