Hi. I am trying to pick 401k plan Vanguard is offering. I know the plan Vanguard will offer will depend on my company. I know I can read about performance and fee associated with each plan. I see some tech focused plans which are doing well but they are dependent on one sector. I looking for a plan that covers wide variety of sectors. What are your thoughts. Hoping to listen form someone who has done the homework π#401k #Vanguard #Finance #retirement
All stocks or S&P tracking fund and call it good. If you can do brokerage, then go with VTI/VOO and call it good
The easiest way to pick a Vanguard plan is to go with a retirement age targeted fund. The funds adjust the percentage of stocks, bonds and cash based on your age. The younger you are the higher the percentage in stocks . Almost all company plans have this option.
Those target date funds have been performing really badly against SP500, lately been hit in both stock and bounds.
That's the point - it's not expected to beat sp500, especially "lately" (in short term). It's for 30 year, 40 year span, has low risk with moderate growth. That's for retirement. You can have all you remaining money for investment if you want.
