How to resign ( give a 2 weeks notice ) to an employer that treated you like shit ?

I want to draft an amazing resignation letter to give my two weeks notice to my current employer (truely a WITCH company) who has messed my life this year like anything. They screwed up my Work visa application, didn’t share any details about the process despite me continuously following them and asking for documents and status updates on and on. I gad to be pn unpaid leave for 2 months while the fixed the mess they created. Didn’t pay me for the time off I had accrued till then and now they say it will expire at year end. Well now I have a full-time job offer from FANGMULA and once I get we confirm the joining date I want to resign with an email they deserve .... TC - $145k FANGMULA Offer - $250k

WTF? Who came up with faangmula? Just name the company and all and stop this elitist mentality.

Because I don’t want to disclose too many details ... is that too hard to understand on an anonymous platform ? If you don’t like these terms you can very well not sue them but you don’t have any right in telling others not to use it ...

Obviously it’s last A

Middle finger emails help no one and achieves nothing when leaving except burning a bridge. Move on with the new job and keep your option of coming back to your current employer at a higher pay open.

I don’t want to come back to them ever ...not in the worst nightmares

Microsoft is right. It will achieve nothing. They will simply laugh behind your back, and probably call you a bi*** cry baby. Be classy and draft a mundane resignation email and leave. Btw, yes it is difficult to understand you holding back the actually org name on an anonymous platform.

Your current may end up being your future boss. 😀

Softvision AOoB63 OP Dec 27, 2019

I wouldn’t join that team/project ever ...

True that, anything can happen. It is a small world.

Be the bigger person, thank them for the good things which happened during your tenure, and move on.

Softvision AOoB63 OP Dec 27, 2019

None actually

Thank them for the opportunity to work at their firm. Gratefulness engenders peace, spite engenders more pain. Sorry for being preachy, but I went through something similar, and gratefulness helped me move on.

Tech is a smaller world than you think. Hypothetically, let's say a future boss is a LinkedIn contact with your current boss and discover this when they try to look you up. And let's say they reach out to the current boss to gain a better understanding of what they're hiring. Do you think that would end well for you? No good can come from writing a childish resignation letter besides maybe fleeting satisfaction. If that fleeting satisfaction is important to you, go for it.

Softvision AOoB63 OP Dec 27, 2019

So employers can abuse their power while employees can’t even stand up to them on leaving that job ?

Google Mr.‎ Glass Dec 27, 2019

Work with HR if you're getting abused. Writing a childish resignation letter is not the answer. But hey, it's your life. Do as you please I guess.

Amazon hLbt48 Dec 27, 2019

Yikes I hope you are not joining my team, just move on, why give them more power than they need to have over you.

Softvision AOoB63 OP Dec 27, 2019

Neither do I brother !

Broadridge wolfmonkey Dec 27, 2019

I'd just leave with a big stoic smile on my face. You can change the past, what is done is done. New Year, new job, focus on the good things.

Softvision AOoB63 OP Dec 27, 2019

I’ve done that multiple times ... let things go and move on with my life, personally n professionally ... but when does one say enough is enough ?

Cognizant outing Dec 27, 2019

Everyone is telling you to take the higher road, but if you're still bent on giving them the finger, just walk out and don't give them the courtesy of a 2 week notice

Softvision AOoB63 OP Dec 27, 2019

Is that possible ? To not give any notice period ? I don’t want to be financially penalized for it

Cognizant outing Dec 27, 2019

Yeah of course, 2 week notice is a courtesy. But if you don't think they're due that courtesy then just don't give it to them. That will say way more than any snarky letter you could write, because it'll make it look like you didn't put any effort into it lol

BlackRock fuckFANG Dec 27, 2019

Agreed with the comments that a snarky email won’t help your cause in any way but people commenting here need to stop acting holier than thou ... everyone has been thru this phase and it feels very insulting to not have any power over your employer despite working hard and being treated like shit ... it crushes your spirit and if the job is all you have it feels worse ...

Softvision AOoB63 OP Dec 27, 2019

Thank you !

Google puffpuff Dec 27, 2019

We have all been through this shit and yes it sucks but be professional, don’t act like a angry high school student

Uber Ujvk47 Dec 27, 2019

The best way to stick it to them is to resign with immediate effect. No 2 weeks notice.

Softvision AOoB63 OP Dec 27, 2019

I guess ... thanks ...
