How to uplevel for Google (L4 -> L5)
I am L4 at Uber with 5 yoe. I am expecting a few L5 offers from pre-ipo companies but interviewing for L4 at G right now. In this case, if I ace the interview, can I get L5?

L5 at G is impossible with 5 yoe. If you’re really that good, join as L4 and promote in a year. I know a few folks who did that. But I know none who’d come at L5 with <8 yoe.
How about at Fb? I have an onsite there soon too
Very hard, but at FB you have a bit higher chances. Although, it’s still easier to promote internally at FB too. Especially 4->5.

Bullshit. Don't listen to anyone here. I interviewed for L4 at G last month. HC approved me for L4 and suggested me to take additional 2 system design rounds if I really wanted to be considered for L5. I have 2 YOE btw. My suggestion: Nail your interviews and ask to be considered for L5. They will give you an opportunity to give additional rounds. I didn't even ask for L5 in my case but they proposed. Also, you can ask your recruiter now itself to add system design rounds to your interview and that you need L5. Anything is possible bud. Dont go by these people.
