Folks worked or working in top tech companies like Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Intuit etc how you onboarded into the team, and how many days were given to you before you start writing code? Did you had pairing for 1st sprint with all developers apart from KT sessions?
Got my first(really simple task) in the first week. Probably wasn't really delivering at the same level as the rest of the team for around 3 months, and our application is relatively simple compared to some.
At Facebook, you go through bootcamp classes for 3 weeks. It’s basically 3 weeks of watching videos and doing tutorials to learn how to do stuff at Facebook and how to use the internal tools and ask for help, etc... there’s a board of bootcamp tasks that are broken up by levels 1 - 5, the higher the level the more difficult the task is. Level 1 and 2 tasks are small bug fixes that take 1 or 2 hours at most to finish. Tasks 3 - 5 usually require context, and changing things on multiple systems or adding features, and changing front and back end stuff. The MINIMUM expectation is to land one task a week during bootcamp, during bootcamp I was landing in average 3 level 4 and level 5 tasks a week. Once the third week finishes, teams with available headcount for your level reach out to you and you set up meetings with team leads, managers and attend their stand ups/socials, and work on their tasks or PMs for a few days to get a feel of how things work at that team. So from weeks 4 - 6 you try out several teams and once you like a team, you let your bootcamp manager that you’re ready to commit to a team. The bootcamp manager and the hiring manager team talk to each other and decide if you’re ready to “graduate” bootcamp, and if you are, then you join the team and bootcamp is virtually over. Then your new manager kind of gives you 1 month to ramp up with the team specific stuff, and after that period over, then you’ve been technically onboarded
Thanks for the detailed description FB! 🙌💯
Are those real task or made-up task for practice in boot camp?

At Google, there are 1-2 weeks of classes to onboard. They cover everything from setting up your LDAP and 401k to how Google actually works. When I finally met my team, the TL assigned me something and then popped in a few times a day to unblock me until I could muddle through simple tasks on my own.
