How's Google cloud platform?
How are the teams under Google cloud platform? Interesting work? Opportunity for promo? Wlb? Wondering which teams would be good to join at Google as an L4 6 yoe
Opportunity to learn and get promoted: yes, in most teams. Wlb is hit-or-miss, depends a lot on team. BigQuery, Storage, CloudSQL are all good teams that are growing. Netinfra is not great. Bigtable has very low/limited investments since spanner is expected to take those workloads. Not sure about the others (there are 50+ teams under gcp)
What is netinfra? Any examples?
Network infrastructure. It's not really a bad team, just that it's very low down in the stack which makes things very complicated.. it's an area that cannot afford outages since it can bring down cloud entirely... Which means things happen somewhat slowly there with a lot of caution (which is generally a good thing, but the slow pace makes it hard to get things done)
