Really depends on the team. Culture on my current team is great but I know people who have toxic managers and orgs like any other company.
Definitely depends on team. My current team is very much used as a tool for business and engineering and gets brought in late/not part of most strategy meetings. But from the design team its still expected to be more strategic. It ends up being a lot of wasted time and effort that doesn’t end up in the product, and some projects just done to appease the design org in order to get promoted.

Culture has changed, lot of pressure , lot of politics. Work hard or get out, you can’t work 8 hours and stay there.
It’s hunger games over here (we just call it showtime) Your pay would also become half.
Agree, all about the team. Feel lucky, 5+ years and I've had mostly great teams.
Sounds like you’ve been lucky. Any insight into what these great teams are?
My team is pretty great, we have Engineers that put in maybe 25~ hours a week and get promoted no issues
