I am considering an EM role in The Trade desk. Want to know your opinion. How it compares to FAANG and what would be day to day responsibility. YOE : 12, backend TC : $350K #thetradedesk
Morale is really low. A lot of silent layoffs while middle/senior management increasingly throw underlings under the bus, but take up zero responsibility themselves.
This is correct
are you saying it's a deep shit for EMs?
So there two kind of roles at TTD - Lead and Manager. Lead is kind of tech lead (but not always) + people manager for a couple of folks. They are expected to code I believe. And there are EMs who are closer to FAANG EMs, mostly doing people management plus responsible for projects
That makes sense and that is what I heard, so thanks for confirming. So tech leads are given illusion of being a manager, just to keep them happy and reduce burden on junior folks from real managers. Managing couple of junior folks has not real value. Do these tech leads ever become proper EM?
So far I have seen one I believe
what's the difference? how many ppl you manage and what are your day to day responsibilities if pay is comparable, then no harm :)
