How’s employee morale at Salesforce atm? From what I’m hearing, people’s experiences have either been really good or really toxic. I heard there’s also been lots of re-orgs recently and wondering if it’s a bad time to join. There’s been lots of re-orgs, politics/bureaucracy, leaders being resistant to innovation/change, and leadership churn at my company which have been the main drivers for me to leave. However, it’s not sounding like the situation at salesforce is any better. @ salesforce folks - how’s it been over there? Am I leaving any of my current problems behind by joining Salesforce? Or is salesforce really headed the direction of Oracle 2.0?
You should find a better company to move up to in the world. Going for Workday to Salesforce is a sidegrade. There is a ton of politics at Salesforce. Tenure is pretty good though, lots of rest and vesters.
Yeah, that’s what I thought. Back when I was in college, Salesforce was hot shi* but nowadays it’s becoming oracle 2.0 just like workday. I’m gonna keep looking elsewhere. I’m 24 and can’t take all this slow bureaucracy red tape bs. Have you worked at salesforce before?
Salesforce is still better than Oracle
All large companies when they’re past the founding era eventually devolve into this state. They hire a lot of non-entrepreneurial 9-5 people who have to show impact to justify their comp, so they turn to highly incremental optimization or copying others and operate in a CYA (cover your ass) mode where they can’t and won’t take risks. Reorgs tend to happen for a couple of reasons, sweeping failures under the rug and out of sight, or to increase “scope” (# of people you manage when there isn’t meaningful impact to point to) as a way to justify promotions. It’s sad, but all the really smart money and people usually exit after the founding era in search of the next founding era. Good luck with your search!
Thank you!!! I’m 24 so this red tape bureaucracy is making me lose my brain cells by day. I came to workday with lots of innovation and ideas in mind thinking I could do something great since the product is literally sh*t and now I understand why it’s sh*t and never changed. I’m sick of it and feel like I’m slowly dy*ng here. Sounds like Salesforce would be a lateral move for me. I’ll probably keep looking - thanks!!
It’s got to do with trust and openness to ideas. Most companies have this problem. And eventually good people leave because they don’t feel free to contribute. At 24 you should be open to experimentation, so try a smaller org with higher potential, it will do you good.
When all the executive you hire are from Oracle you will become Oracle 2.0. Crazy how Salesforce was the anti-Oracle and then the same people who drove that company into oblivion is now going to do that at Salesforce.
Workday was founded as revenge because Oracle “stole” peoplesoft and it still ended up hiring all these ex-oracles (current teammates are all from Oracle and I absolutely hate working with each one of them). This place has turned into Oracle 2.0 as well. I’m trying to get away from all this 💩 show but I keep ending up with these options 🤡 did you work at Salesforce before?
What's up with Oracle 2.0?
Depends what org you work for. People doing cool things are outside of the main teams. Salesforce morale is a mixed bag. Some days are great, some days are miserable. Most of the people you meet are super friendly.
Do you know anything about BizTech (BT)?
BT isn’t a good place to be in.
Don’t bother, a boatload of people are leaving non stop everyday. It’s not an upgrade from Workday I would say. Pay is not great and no refreshers either. Work is boring and dull. I’m leaving asap.
Great insight thank you! Ya uhm, I’ve tried negotiating with them before and they said they can’t go any higher because the org has a “limit”
There are entitled people everywhere. They will complain no matter what. Don't listen to them. Look at the team, the work they do and the manager. If you like them try to get the best possible TC and join. If you don't, move on. New hires are getting shit ton of 💵 Why does this need so much thought?
This! You can interview and evaluate the team/manager etc. There are teams that do interesting work. At LMTS you can get up to 450k and 550-600 at PMTS, provided your interviews /experience is good and competing offers. Salesforce does not give refreshers to everyone. That does not mean no one gets them - some get decent refreshes every year.
Generally good but does vary by team and org, the reorg stuff doesn’t really matter. We generally reshuffle/reorg every year to some degree. Change is constant at Salesforce
Very good wlb. No refreshers. Work is decent. I stay here to have a relaxed life and TC is not my first priority. Lot of attrition recently due to hot job market
Which cloud org you are part of?
Former salesforce - I was middle management and came up through the ranks over 10 years and I agree with this it was great when I needed a slow and steady move up my ladder with some cool fast teams in the middle that I got to be part of - internal mobility is awesome and they care about keeping you at the company. But last year I got the desire to do more faster and I knew it was time to move to a pre IPO company. No regrets though. Depends what you’re looking for. I worked across 3 clouds including marketing cloud, sales cloud and an industry cloud.
Salesforce Is definitely better than workday .
Noone can give you the right answer. These things vary team by team.
I understand. Wanted to hear some stories from folks currently at Salesforce
