How's your experience with LASIK eye surgery?

I'm looking to have lasik eye surgery in summer 2021 but I have been hearing mixed reviews on Quora. So because of this I'm worried if I should go or not?

I had Contoura Vision bladeless lasik in San Diego in 2018. I see 20/20 now but my eyes were still adjusting the first few months after the surgery. I had moderate myopia & astigmatism. The improvement in vision wasn’t overnight like everyone says at-least it wasn’t for me.

First find out if you are eligible for Lasik by going in for a few consultations, depends on cornea thickness. Choose a conservative doctor since most doctors will push for lasik even though you might only be eligible for PRK. Try to use your FSA and pay the full cost of the procedure. Dont try to use groupons

Got it done 6 years ago and probably best decision in my life, even more than marrying the right partner lol

How long it took you to get you're eyes adjust after surgery? Was there any side affects in initial few days?

It was trivial like a couple days or so. Had aura for a few days but went away quickly. I had a high power too like -10ish

I had it done in Dec in Seattle. I was 20/20 in my right eye within a week. I was 20/30 in my left, which was worse. Also severe astigmatism. Best decision nonetheless. As per previous comment, will take a few months to settle.

How did you work during the settling time?

I didn't. It only took 2-3 days for the mild discomfort to stop. From that point on, you can see clearly = work. I had some blurriness but nothing like when not wearing can acts/ glasses. So after the first 3 days, you should be good... But take it easy on your eyes. You'll find yourself squinting now and then. Let them rest with normal stuff (limit tv, screens and sun).

Has anyone did from New Delhi?

Look for the best doctor(s) to get an evaluation. I was not a candidate cause my cornea angle is too stiff. The operation could lead to Keratoconus (possible vision loss). I was happy that the doctor was honest about it. This is the reason you want someone with reputation rather than cheap (and looking to make few bucks).

Most terrifying thing I’ve ever done, had a panic attack right in the middle, was pretty sure I was blind. More than perfect vision in 3 days. Surgery was 5 years ago, no complications and still seeing perfectly. I’d do 100 times again, but ask for more Xanax.
