I still have a galaxy S10 plus that I got in 2019 and haven't seen much performance degradation. Still looking to see if there are any noticable upgrades in Android phones that are worth buying now ?
S23, pixel 8
+1 for s23
Just got a S21 ultra refurbished for $379. Can't beat that. Takes spectacular pictures. I'm also upgrading from an S10+
4 years is a long time. I would think of buying a new phone for better specs like camera. Oneplus 12 and S24 are coming out this month. You could consider those. Or Pixel 8 pro (I am a Pixel fan)
Why is 4 years a long time? The camera is all bu an t incremental improvement over years and I don't see why my Pixel 6 photos would be bad or anything lesser than what I need, 5 years down the line. I feel like phones have become mature enough that they be treated just like one treats their televisions. An upgrade once every 7-10 years is fine unless something unfixable breaks ofc.
My wife had a OnePlus 7 and we could notice the picture quality issues pretty easily
Damn I miss Android. I’m on my second iPhone and these pieces of crap are no good once you approach the 2-year mark. Galaxies will ride for years til the wheels fall off.
My experience is the exact opposite. I had ~28 different Android phones in 8 years. I've had 1 iphone for 3 years and it's like new.
Buy premium Android phones like Samsung and Pixel. For eerything else, ymmv
Pixel ftw
8 pro is incredible. I can take non-stop portrait mode and it doesn't freeze
I have a Pixel 6, years of Galaxy phones before then. The less bloatware and UI skin of the Pixel line I really like. Havent found a need to upgrade yet, but will when they stop patching/updating it. Which is apparently Oct '24 for updated OS version and '26 for security updates.
Pixel 8 Pro. Check out MKBHD’s review
S23 Ultra, only diff is better camera and mm wave 5G. Otherwise S10 plus is good enough
I am using OnePlus 7T from 4 year and no issues or performance degradation so far. (Just have to replace battery) But for next phone, I was initially planning to gift me S23 Ultra but I don't like the experience of their OS so will go for Pixel Pro.
I also have the 7T (pro), and no issues other than needing a new battery, and there are no more security updates, so the phone does not meet work criteria to have Teams and email on it. Planning to get a 12 once they're available here in US. Thought about a Pixel 8, but decided on the 12.
I went from a 7 pro to s23 ultra last year. It wasn't as big of an upgrade as I was expecting. The camera is great, but I wasn't blown away. I heard bad things about last years pixel which is why I opted against it, but I might consider it for next phone
What do you care about? Camera? Speed? Gaming? Display? Battery life?
