Hey guys GitHub recruiter reached out to me for software engineer role. I am curious about compensation offered in Amsterdam location & keen to know that is it worth it or not to go for interview.#tech TC - 103k
People working at GitHub, is it a remote position in Amsterdam? Or is there an actual office there?
You can apply for remote Europe and ask to work from Amsterdam
GitHub pays lower than most. As a former githubber, it was definitely the easiest job I had in tech. People were nice too. Amsterdam office is just okay, you’ll probably just work remote. Jason Warner has hired good people under him, the engineering org was pretty shit until he came in. I was in an engineering adjacent role so can’t give you interview tips.
Thanks for the info. I will not go ahead if they are paying lesser than what I earn. Thanks for the advice.
No worries. I would still see what the salary range offered is. After the acquisition there were efforts to match Microsoft salary bands, but I’m pretty sure the leveling is still separate. While the salaries were lower you’ll absolutely have a great WLB (which I know is more culturally ingrained in the EU), and the benefits package was very generous.
