I have already signed an offer with meta back in November. I just applied for fun in Hrt and they want to have an interview loop. I am a Cs PhD with 3 masters. Do they really pay new grad north of 530K as per levels? Also I stopped practicing in leetcode back in November, how hard is the take home code test? TC:30k
I did the interview last November, it was a combination of OS and Algos questions. The interview was done on zoom w cameras off and I didn’t have to actually code anything out, just verbally walk through the solutions. Pretty challenging questions though so I didnt get the gig
Which role? Algo Eng?
Yup
> I am a Cs PhD with 3 masters. Do they really pay new grad north of 530K as per levels? For quant? Yes
The position is algo developer. Actually I just applied for fun and didn’t really wanted to apply to that position. I want to apply for quant. Though I didn’t reapply because they said if you are eligible for multiple roles we will tell you and dint apply to multiple jobs In levels it says median for software developer 530 new grad
> The position is algo developer. Yes, that's HRT's term for quant. Not to be confused with algo engineer, which is one of the types of SWE the company has. > In levels it says median for software developer 530 new grad The TC reports in levels.fyi suggest to me that a lot of quants are just reporting salary as SWE, so the two get mixed up.
What is that ?
Is this free?
Ok did the OA it is was relatively easy. Finished first 2 tasks in 30 mins. Though last task was with string formatting (relative easy too) didn’t get it 100%
You must be great at LC style problems because when I tried it, it felt impossible.
Maybe we had different OA, what problems you had. Mine they were really easy. One with integers one with portioning a string and calculating a score and one just string formatting (this one almost solved but my solution was a bit off it was annoying not hard)
Did ya get an offer?
No 😢
DP hards so pretty easy if you practice a lot of those. Otherwise you're not going to have a good time.
3 masters, why the hell on Earth did you need 3 masters?
International student I think

I can’t comment on salaries, but I am an upcoming PhD grad (non CS) and a recruiter contacted me to apply for the Algo Dev position. I found the online assessment they gave me very difficult. I would say both problems were leetcode hard+, though I have only attempted mostly easy and mediums. After taking the OA, I found that one required a greedy solution and the other a typical DP problem with some caveats. Based off of the OA, I would assume the interview would be fairly challenging and require solving leetcode medium/hard, though the reward is a great entry-level salary
Ok got you so there is no point, I was pretty good on leetcode back in November solved around 350 but mostly medium and easy around 10% hards
Yeah, totally up to you. If you’re able to skip the OA, I would go for the interview and see what happens. I have also read online about very easy OAs being given to applicants… mainly the reason why I was so surprised by the difficulty 😅
