Don't keep anything to yourself.
Oof. Where to even begin? After Disney took operational control one of the first things they did was cancel Hulu's international expansion which was already in planning stages. Then they merged Hulu with DSS but gave like 80% of the manager positions to DSS people. Teams got integrated but nobody actually worked together on any products, everyone continued to be siloed. Then they replaced Hulu benefits with Disney benefits which were worse in every way. Healthcare got more expensive, unlimited vacation was replaced with 3 wks, parental leave was slashed, 401k matching decreased. Then they took away Hulu LTIP from all employees and only replaced it with Disney LTI for tech employees and managers. Ops, marketing, HR and hundreds of other employees got totally screwed in that exchange. All transparency in communications went out the window. Everything became hush hush and all major projects were dictated top-down without any explanation of value. New joint CTO who came from DSS was a blowhard whose leadership style was probably based on some book written in the 70s. He announced a platform unification project that had zero customer value and could basically be summed up as "go make Hulu run on DSS platform". No progress was made on the project for at least a year, during which all Hulu existing planning processes and workflows were thrown out the window and replaced with absolutely nothing. Everyone got re-leveled, lots of people had their TC cut, and eventually attrition got so bad that Disney started throwing buckets of RSUs and retention bonuses at anyone willing to stay. Oh, and about 1500 Hulu employees left the company in a span of 2-3 years. Hulu culture got entirely erased and replaced with some incoherent corporate culture that is not even consistent across Disney's legacy teams. So I guess you could say it's been peachy.
Insane. Guess this is what's coming to HBO Max. Thanks for sharing. Will send DM once 🔂 😅
Warner is bigger than Discovery though so maybe not. Hulu was too small (2-3 thousand employees) so it just got swallowed by Disney, it never stood a chance.
Their RTO is facilitated thru passive aggressiveness rather than open communication also
What does this actually mean
Meaning they will drop hints like why wfh is bad, scheduling in-person meetings at the office, threatening the consequences of not showing up, dinging you on your performance review for not complying, and constantly dangling why we need to get our badging numbers up.
Do not come here. It's a lot worse than you think.
