Manipulation by Exabeam HR

At Exabeam, HR is currently threatening the remaining employees, warning them against posting or engaging on platforms like Glassdoor and Blind. This shift in attitude follows a significant RIF of 20%. Earlier this year, the same HR department was actively encouraging employees to post manipulative and positive feedback about the company. What do you guys think? We have talented individuals from Google, Amazon, Palo Alto, and other renowned companies among us. Yet, it seems that Exabeam's HR is not living up to expectations. They appear to be more focused on protecting the executives than addressing employee concerns. There's a clear display of manipulation and favoritism within the company at every level. #Exabeam #HR #Startup #ExabeamHRFlipFlop

Including myself, many people are considering leaving; we're just waiting for next year to make a move. Joining this sinking company was my biggest mistake. HR is proving to be useless. If they are aware of the problems and yet take no action, then it seems their sole purpose is to manage executives. Uber is a prime example – initially, their HR was practically non-existent and failed to address issues like harassment of women.

Honestly, this is typical HR behavior - protect companies and execs over regular employees. Maybe these guys are making it more obvious by saying certain things - but be assured that this is quite normal HR behavior.

Cisco gtOP13 Dec 4, 2023

Some of the worst leaders imaginable from Cisco went to exabeam. Unsurprised.

Exabeam etls86 OP Dec 4, 2023

Somehow, we ended up bringing in a CDO from Aruba, and he has brought ineffective leaders to the Engineering team at Exabeam, completely lacking diversity. These leaders, unsuccessful in their previous positions, were also brought over by him. Despite numerous complaints, HR seems to be either ignoring the issues or is completely oblivious.

I thought most of the Cisco folks already left?

Rubrik itsawfr Dec 4, 2023

Not condoning their behavior, but functionally, HR is meant to protect the company and not the employees. Just facts

Exabeam etls86 OP Dec 4, 2023

I understand, but isn't this a problem with most startups and tech companies in the Bay Area?

Exabeam AcheronWin Dec 4, 2023

GD has done this in closed doors to so many people. I have heard horror stories from so many sources. Now they are desperate enough to use this publicly. While the last HR team was very similar, they were careful not to do it in front of others and it was still done discreetly. The current HR lacks class and empathy. Pretence of being classy and empathetic galore. HR is always to protect the company , then Execs. Never people.

Exabeam zGwF20 Dec 7, 2023

GD way too focused on promoting herself, her brand, herself herself herself. While HRs job is to protect the company (sad but true) GD has taken it to a new level of disrespect and dishonesty. Very protective of some bad behavior by CDO and other male leaders.

Exabeam XBNj76 Dec 8, 2023

GD is just doing what the boys tell her to do so she can keep her job. AG, OL, CC - they are running the sinking show.

you seem to not understand what HRs job in a company is. sounds like they’re doing a stellar one

Exabeam etls86 OP Dec 4, 2023

What about Employee Relations, Compliance with Labor Laws, Workplace Safety, Diversity, and Inclusion, etc., as part of the HR job, apart from protecting executives and promoting a toxic culture?

General Motors likesmooth Dec 5, 2023

All of that is a distant second to the primary mission - protect the company and the execs

Exabeam b_unbiased Dec 6, 2023

I must express my deep concerns about the recent posts on LinkedIn regarding our company being one of the top 100 most-loved workplaces. This claim seems disingenuous and like a blatant self-promotion by the CHRO, especially after the recent 20% layoffs, with rumors of more to come due to financial constraints. It's disheartening to see such posts when the morale among employees is clearly low, and favoritism appears to be rampant. Our HR department's actions, particularly in promoting these misleading narratives, are deeply troubling. It's bewildering how organizations like #bizlibrary and others fail to recognize the truth behind these claims and inadvertently endorse such inaccuracies. Authenticity and transparency are crucial, and it's time we addressed the real issues at hand rather than masking them with unfounded accolades.

Exabeam zGwF20 Dec 7, 2023

It is embarrassing that Exabeam keeps winning these best loved workplace awards. WHAT A JOKE - I mean, seriously, what's the criteria?? Lie your way to an award I guess.

Exabeam etls86 OP Dec 7, 2023

It's quite perplexing to see such awards when the internal experiences tell a different story. It does make one wonder about the criteria and the authenticity behind these accolades. The disparity between the public image and the actual workplace environment is indeed concerning.

Exabeam zGwF20 Dec 10, 2023

Manipulation. Allowing favoritism. Allowing bad and unchecked behavior by senior male leaders in sales, engineering, product. Yet taking time for her own self promotion. Sounds like grounds for termination. GD better hope she has friends in high places and that they don't turn on her.

Exabeam z3ROb8 Dec 10, 2023

Absolutely, the RIF's undertone of favoritism is a troubling sign. Exabeam risks cultivating a culture of mediocrity and fear by retaining those who simply follow orders without question. It's like when Adam says jump, people jump - not because they're delivering results, but just to please the executives. This behavior raises a critical question: Are we working in a company or a zoo where performing tricks is valued more than actual performance? A company thrives on diverse ideas and courage, not on yes-men. This approach is short-sighted, and Exabeam will likely face the consequences of overlooking genuine talent and silencing critical voices. It's high time for a shift towards merit and open dialogue.

Exabeam AcheronWin Dec 10, 2023

Presuming Exabeam is going to get sold soon, the first teams that are consolidated in the steps ensuing include HR (any team that has largely transferable skills usually ). The current publicity effort by GD showcases that they know this and are looking for a role before that happens. Posting regularly on LinkedIn is how a lot of execs get hired - it's called social recruiting). Also, GD probably knows that there is little to no room for growth opportunities at a company that's laying off ( the company will do some promotions here and there to bump up the morale) and it's likely that one of these rounds will have her name on it as well. GD has seen this happen before, I am sure l, and is smarter than most to desert the sinking ship first).

The head of HR has an innate ability to post articles and videos that are exactly opposite to her behavior. We all wondered how someone could pretend and lie so much. She had a common story to share about her hardship in the shelter, and she managed to grab sympathy. After a few months, you know the truth behind that face. The way the HR has handled layoffs is pathetic and highly unprofessional. HR head selectively called some people in her team after layoffs. What a perfect way to humiliate her team members, and she has an article on empathy and layoffs. Ha Ha Ha. Here is the list of employees terminated in the HR team since the CHRO joined. HR head, TA Manager, VP TA, a few very seasoned HRBPs (She retained and promoted the one from Bluevine), Learning and Dev, Recruiting Lead, RCs, and recruiters in the US and India. Some fortunate left on their own. I feel sorry for the people who are stuck in Exabeam. I was with Exabeam briefly, and when I look back, I thank God I am not with that toxic team. I got so much negativity during my association that I went for a detox treatment. It became difficult to trust anyone. Some extraordinary talents are left, and those left behind are looking out. And I hope and pray they find good company. Exabeam is not just a sinking ship due to shrinking business; it has curses of lots of ex-employees that have been treated so badly, favoritism, and promoting in-competent people, unfair hiring practices, rampant unjustified firing, and Layoffs.

Exabeam b_unbiased Dec 24, 2023

When a CHRO is clearly out of their depth, blatantly ignoring employee complaints about executives, it wreaks havoc. This isn't just about missing a few complaints; it directly hits the leadership’s integrity. And when that same CHRO puts up a shiny, false front on LinkedIn, it’s laughably transparent. The gap between this online illusion and the grim office reality is massive, and it’s a slap in the face to the whole company. It's not just the CHRO’s mess – the Board and the CEO are knee-deep in it too, by turning a blind eye. This whole charade is torpedoing the company’s morale and trashing any claims of values we supposedly hold. Employees aren’t fools; they see right through the fake commitment and hollow promises. Take DEI, for example. It’s all talk, no action – a token gesture at best. When DEI is nothing but a buzzword, not a lived experience, employees lose faith, feel alienated. This kind of hypocrisy creates a toxic work environment, where trust in leadership hits rock bottom, and the company's so-called values are just a joke. It’s a disaster – a company that could thrive is being strangled by the very people meant to lead it.
