Nuvia

Hi...any inputs on nuvia job option. They do have lots of openings...i am just thinking is it worth...seems promising when it comes to their team etc. But seems tricky as qcom and samaung failed competing with intel xeon as nuvia wants to do datacenter chip. Any suggestions, views on nuvia. Other big thing is...money required to design server chip...that too in this bad economy trends...

They seem to have a good team in place mostly ex apple but I feel they are bit late to the party ampere and marvell.will give a tough fight to them

They are trying to take on the Cavium team which is at Marvell now doing data center processors, will b tough space to compete . They need to raise lot more than 53 million they currently have , which might prove difficult with recession looming . Could be interesting work though

I interviewed with them for CPU-DV position on site at their Santa Clara Building. They are super secretive !! Two Phone Screens followed by 6 , 1v1 onsite interviews. They drill you mainly on Computer Architecture and C++ and they dont use UVM framework for verification. Everyone that I met were humble and extremely knowledgeable. Most of the senior and junior engineers are ex-Apple and ex-samsung employees. Quite hard to crack !! I didnt put a foot wrong in all the onsites and yet I got a reject . Also they expect you to know assembly programming as well. Overall Experience = 4/5.

Hmm....interesting. R they good in terms of pay stocks..etc. And is it safe to join nuvia at this crisis period even they offer job?

Allegro MicroSystems kuvempu Mar 23, 2020

Most of them in the company are kind of workoholics. You get paid a lot tbf around 200k or may be along that lines . But AFAIK they expect a lot, run on tight deadlines and expect you to get it done , period . You can improve your skill set exponentially if you join and moreover its hardcore CPU . If you like working on CPUs , theres no place like it. I personally would join !

Any inputs on the current statua of nuvia w.r.t funding, stability etc. Pls post stocks details. And is there any risk

Intel Apssw OP Mar 23, 2020

$200k not bad...may be they dont have any joining or yearend bonus etc..How about the stocks...is the stock motivation to consider them..

Allegro MicroSystems ontherocks Mar 28, 2020

They do provide RSUs but I don't know the number . They got really good funding not so long ago. Hence the exponential growth . At the end of the day it's still a risk. Untill and unless you tape out atleast 1 product and analyze the market vibes , you never know.

I think they got 50M for server product that looks very less they might go for second round but since ARM is not investing I am not sure about the long term prospects execution is.key for them to succeed
