Uh oh: President Trump leads Biden 49% to 43% in a two-way race.
For hybrid employees who have to go into the office maybe once or twice a week, would you buy a home in Sacramento? Much cheaper and homes look so much nicer than the shitty Bay Area shacks I’ve seen on the market. Why or why not in comments p.s. thinking about settling down and getting married Random home found on Redfin: https://redf.in/tJbllv
2 days commute from Sac is not fun in the long term. Temporary is fine. . Especially when you have family and kids.
So far we don’t have mandatory RTO yet. But can foresee it coming
With air taxis coming in next few years anywhere is okay but not today even if you’re commuting twice a week.
What about once a week?
Maybe it is just a personal preference but definitely not for me.
Folsom prison
Yeah trying to strike a balance between commuting to work and quality of life. Because buying a 1.5M-2M crappy shack may be outside of the budget
I think like long term it will be back to office at least 4 out of 5 times a week. You might wing short stays but that doesn't help with the commute.
Wait until you know what your company’s policy is. Better to rent a little longer than lock yourself into a house with a terrible commute. You don’t want to be doing that drive every week in the long run. It will be exponentially worse if you have to do it 3-4 days which seems to be the norm. Personally I wouldn’t buy in Sacramento unless I was officially fully remote or worked for a company based there
Seems our company is forever in a limbo. So gotta make a life decision for myself and my family. Screw RTO
What if you need to change your job/company?
I’d find remote friendly companies?
Not worth it. Remote work will stay for real expert, or for low pay workers. Most of normal members will return to office.
What's the link between getting married and buying a house? Or do you mean you want to marry a house? Don't take hybrid for granted no matter what your company says, wait until next year to be sure.
Don’t think those two are necessarily linked. But I’d like to buy a house. And I’d like to get married.
Basic common sense says first get married and then both can decide where to live. What if you buy house in Sacramento but your wife needs to be in office daily in SF?
95757 is reasonable with great schools. You still can drive 2 days a week to bay area
How do you like this area compared to Folsom?
Folsom has very good schools, but 20% more expensive, 40 miles far and 10 degrees hotter. People flock to 95757 for being closer to bay area and you will be finding many people moved from bay area.
