They are in Japan. Do they hire many devs in the US? Those other companies do

I have a friend who works at Nintendo Redmond. Firmware stuff. He says it is cool if you like that kind of stuff, but the work can be painful, you arenā€™t going to get Google level tools. Many Japanese people around and if you get lucky you might get to go to Kyoto Nintendo HQ. The saddest thing is probably the low TC.

Wlb? Excellent. Benefits? Better than average (except no free lunch which is lame). Not on par with MS but pretty decent compared to Google, Amazon, etc. Culture? Very chill depending on the department. We run lean but as long as your manager is cool you'll enjoy it. You have to really screw up and be terrible to get fired. Very stable with pretty much no layoffs and a very very long tenure rate (average of around 10-12 years) Management? VERY centralized in Japan. NCL micromanages a lot. Keep that in mind. Compensation? TERRIBLE. Very poor. Nowhere near competitive compared to other companies in Seattle. Absolutely abysmal.

Your work life balance depends on your manager of the team. WLB in my team sucks.. Salary and bonus not competitive with Seattle market for engineers. Difficult to move up in the career. People stay in same title for years. Old Boy Network with 50% of employees working in same position over 10+ years. It should not be a place to hang out until retirement. Easy to not get fired by doing less. All decisions micro-managed and take ultimate direction from Japan.
