I recently was laid off from Meta, and now I have two offers on the table: one to rejoin Meta on a different team and another from Snap. I'm seeking advice on which opportunity I should choose and why? Pros: Meta: More stable than Snap, easier to get promoted to next level comparatively Snap: Stock is pretty low rn, tech seems to be industry standard (ie) transferrable skills Cons: Meta: Tech is 🤮 (non-transferable skills), Morale is 📉 due to uncertainty Snap: Hearing quarterly pip
Stay at Meta unless something is pushing you out (PIP namely). I wouldn’t go near Snap with a 6 foot pole, especially considering it’s a dying product with little upside compared to Meta’s product and other companies, including TikTok. Keep looking. TC: 90K
Dying product with healthy user growth lol. Snap’s continued user growth has me on the edge of my seat. TikTok doing well now but all it takes is a couple investors to realize snaps potential.
TikTok you're really lacking perspective on your company's strength in the market if you think they're at all in danger of being beaten by snap...
Join both and collect 670k TC with 80 hour week
So be in 2 offices at once? That kinda skill deserves more than 670k tbh
Isn’t Snap remote ? Be in Meta office, doing Meta + Snap work. 2X TC, 2X learning, sweet deal
do both and leave the one you didn’t plan to join when going gets tough
Yeah, OE and make 🏦
Join Snap. But bring your own water.
It doesn’t really matter how much you work on the wrong product. You can work 24x7, 365 days a year and still be spinning wheels for nothing. Yes, snap has cool features and tech, but no product
How did you get to rejoin at Meta?
What’s the distribution of Snap stocks? Over how many years? Do they evenly distribute across those years?
Yeah even distribution. 33% of grant every year for 3 years
Isn't snap dying?
Idk, they had 18% YoY growth
All from India
