Background: 4 years of experience in India, in some very good companies (top e-commerce). Came to USA for masters but didn't get any call backs for job interviews except cognizant. Joined cognizant 1 year ago. Now moving on to a better paying series C startup. First month sucked. But then I was assigned a project with a client having tech stack older than Dumbledore. Me and 4 others had to build everything from scratch. The manager of the project was GREAT at setting deadlines, assigning tasks and troubleshooting when servers crashed. My coworkers were not good at English which made them look dumb, but when it came to coding they did a fine job, I actually learned a lot from them about system design. I worked on NLP and data visualizations that were inspired from airbnb tech blog. The thing I hated was how we interviewed people. My manager literally saw a CV she liked and would randomly call up the candidate without emailing them first, ask details and bam! You're hired. Wtf? But overall, I don't understand why cognizant gets lot of hate. Also, great WLB. I worked from 8am EST to 3pm. So many people agreed to refer me but later refused after seeing my CV. It was definitely a struggle to get a well paying job. And yes, cognizant pays less than average. TC: 100K YOE: 4
People deny referrals based on who they worked for? I thought impact mattered more
Happened on blind, way too many times and when I told my FAANG friends they didn't believe me either. Then they showed me how easily they got referrals to robinhood, instacart etc. and I was shocked.
Have you tried rooftopslushi or other referral services?
Damn can you please have that hiring manager call me?
Sure, please post your 10 digit phone number, and credit card details.
