So far I've applied to 49 companies in the US, EU, Singapore and UK 28 companies have rejected without any interview or ghosted The rest are recent applications (within 2 weeks) and the 3 that responded: Google picked out my resume only to get immediately dropped after a questionnaire because they mistook me for a US citizen and don't want to deal with visa sponsorship Spotify UK had a screening interview and even mentioned visas wouldn't be an issue, and went into detail about their 4x1 hour tech interview process, and how they consolidated multiple positions into one so you'd go through the interview process and only at the end they will decide what team to insert you into. Didn't even get a chance to start the technical interviews before they dropped me Credit Suisse I'd done a take home test, done the first screening interview, then the recruiter probably quit because her email address spit out an "address not found" and nobody else could bother to respond either Having not done an interview in like 4 years, I initially applied to many places so I could brush up doing tech interviews, thinking if it works out I could move to another country, and if not at least I got some experience interviewing. Turns out nobody will even give me a chance to do a tech interview Guess I'm doomed to stay in the shithole that is Malaysia TC: 🥜 #interview #tech #leetcode #google #spotify #jobhunt #swe
Do masters overseas
Most likely your resume/profile is mediocre at best so it is immediately clear for everyone that you are not worth the relocation effort. Sorry for the harsh words but it is the reality. Build your expertise and make yourself a really great SWE then recruiters will reach out to you themselves.
I thought so too, but then it passed Google and Twilio screening and only got dropped because I wasn't in the US. Spotify also seemed like they were actually interested and willing to relocate me, then I didn't even get to do the technical interview with them An Amazon recruiter reached out for a position in Canada too, still waiting on that but I suspect something similar will happen where they either just don't interview me or mistake me for a local and back out immediately after
Come to the US and do a master degree, then find a US tech job. Most people do it this way. Or you have a PhD and published papers in your field, you could get a company to sponsor you F1 visa.
if you’re in malaysia it should be easy to get interviews in Singapore
Idk which companies are offering sponsorship for EP though. So far I tried Bulge banks, Faang, Grab, Bytedance, Shopify, Stripe, Indeed, HP, Paypal, Carousell, Binance, Coinbase They either didn't respond or just got the generic "decided to move forward with other candidates"
Are you an Engineer? I left Malaysia after getting 2.5 YOE and currently work in Germany. I am joining Bloomberg London soon.
Software Eng yeah, maybe I should try Germany and London as well I suppose
Yes, get your resume checked and apply to companies that hire a lot of expats like Zalando or DeliveryHero. Unfortunately you’ll also need to Leetcode but not too much, using CtCI and Blind 75 should be enough but make sure you understand everything well.
DM me if you are still seeking to move. I am a U.K. citizen who’s born abroad and I have held various perm residencies. I might be able to help out with move
My path : apply to startups that can sponsorship in the uk then. After 1 to 2 years apply to big tech companies
Dont give up. I was in similar position a few years ago. I committed myself into applying for at least 1 job every day until I land an offer. Dont forget to find referrals from Blind. Really help in landing interviews.
DM for JP Morgan UK. They provide Visa sponsorship
What visa ?
Skilled worker Visa for the employee and dependent visa for spouse and kids

The end of Backdoor Roth?!
Getting a job abroad is a two step process: 1. Get into the country. 2. Find a job there. There are various options for both steps. For example for #1 you can: find a local recruiter to sponsor your US H1 and play that lottery. Or you can enroll into a US college for higher studies. Mary a US citizen etc.
Probably just my confirmation bias but I see people here with offers from multiple countries and need help deciding between them - I don't imagine they're omnipresent Meanwhile I'd be glad if anyone would just interview me even if I fail at least I can get some experience lol
Those people are the cream of the crop. Most people take the master degree route. Let's be real, Accenture is a shit-tier company. Try getting into a way better company within your country first before sending your resume abroad. Or save money and get a master's degree.
