They offered me 150k + 20% bonus each year + 80 k RSU for 4 years = 200k total. Companies like Amazon and Google play about $240k total for a similar role. I'm a hardware engineer with 8 years of experience.
Just ask, else you'll never be giving your best
Only ask if you another offer, or if you ask be prepared if they withdraw the offer. If you think you can get better jobs , don’t join
I'll be joining them anyways. I like the role. But this mistake would cost me at least $20k a year. I didn't do the research properly and didn't know about this app.
If you don’t have an offer in hand for 20k more, you’re not being reasonable. Even if people are paid 20k more for the same level at the same company that’s no guarantee that you should have gotten it
no
Too late. Sorry.
U r assuming hw engineers get paid similar to sw engineers.
Lol, yup. I’m an Electrical Engineer, but I work as a SWE because I quickly realized the career potential is greater than in HW
I know many wireless hardware guys who get paid around $240k total at Google, Amazon and Apple. RSU make the difference. Software definitely pays more than that for sure.
No. Do not do this. Too late, sorry. Best option is to grit your teeth for 9 months before promo or change companies.
You done fucked up. Take the lesson and apply it next time you interview/are up for promo.
Maybe too late, I had similar experience. I accepted MS oral offer. Later I got Oracle BMC and NVIDIA's offers. I then told HR to match. But they refused since I already accepted it orally.
If you can get a better offer just leave, no other offer don't bring it up. It would make you look like a douchbag.
