I just think it's none of our business.
How else are we supposed to virtue signal
tax dollars wasted > virtue signaling
This guy fucks.
Your tax money is being burned in Israel, maybe thatās a reason to care
Yeah we gave Iran 200B as well, at least some of it before Trump pulled the plug, that money was used to fund Hamas directly. Of course even using your gas powered car funds Hamas. Honestly we should just let countries kill each other, that perhaps will show you what an actual Genocide looks like.
As long as that translate to US supremacy in the world, is that really a problem? If US didnāt partecipate to 2nd world war / cold war / <fill the blank> with tax payer contributions, would they be the dominant economy today?
Thatās the normal view. The rabid dogs on both sides who are getting worked up over something that has nothing to do with US national interests are the outliers.
Supporting Israel is a national security threat. When you kill a 7 year old kidās mom, maim his brother, destroy his home, beat him up even though heās a kid, you bet heās gonna grow up and join groups like Hamas. In fact, Bin Laden cited the USAās support for Israel as a justification for 9/11. Not that I think it justifies it, just showing how our foreign affairs decisions affect our national security right here. Not to mention the insane amount of money we pay on funding the Israeli military when that money could be used to solve countless problems right here at home. Saving that money would help us stop adding to our national debt, a quarter of which we owe to funding Israel.
No. Itās a threat to Israel, not US. Iām not interested in the rationales provided by a terrorist. I agree with the part about US funding Israel and support ending it but itās not an insane amount. Just a small percentage of the US federal budget.
I didnāt care initially, but the disruption caused by pro-Palestine protestors to my commute etc made me pro-Israel.
oh ok so youāre actually now going to pro-Israel protests now?
Actually I am anti-Palestine. I will support whatever those disruptive protests are protesting.
Around 50% of your tax dollars fund the US war machine. How do you feel about funding the death and suffering of people? How do you feel about that money not being spent to solve problems here at home, like homelessness, better infrastructure, etc? How do you feel about hundreds of billions of dollars that have been added to our national debt just to support our āAllyā regardless of how many crimes they commit?
I think thatās the point of opās post when he/she said itās none of our business
Supporting Palestine is Pro Islamic Radical Human Rights Violators Supporting Israel is Pro Jewish Extremist Squatting Violent Settlers
So best to stay out of it then?
Undoubtedly, not our place. The middle east cannot know peace due to religious extremists
Unfortunately, my main concern is stopping my taxes. Beyond that it's not really my business beyond economic and national security. The USA is going out the same way as the British empire. Eventually the bank will run out of money.
Itās more an issue of having seen behind the curtain. We canāt unsee the stronghold AIPAC/Israel has on our government and ultimately in setting its priorities. So when you have domestic issues like border control, student loans, housing affordability, inflation, unemployment; just remember congress will spin their wheels on all of it just to approve foreign aid in a few hours. I care about the issue because itās time for the USA to be run by American first politicians
I support Israel and care deeply about it, but I concede that's a separate question from whether the US needs to support Israel. I don't disagree with Americans wondering why the US needs to send money to foreign countries when we have so much to do domestically. That said, I don't know that it's entirely attributable to AIPAC. It is also possible that there are US interests (good or bad) that advocate for supporting Israel. Some random examples might be weapons manufacturers or non-Jewish religious groups.
Most of the lost healthy nationalism can be traced back to the last attempt to register AIPAC as a foreign entity. The last individual to attempt that was JFK. The month after he was assassinated, all attempts to register AIPAC were pulled back and the takeover of our elected officials has been on a negative trajectory since. I respect everyoneās ability to defend themselves. I understand Palestineās resistance and I understand Israelās initial albeit not entire response to October 7th. I would counter your point of view of Israel serving any benefit for the US.
Just accuse anyone wearing a keffiyah of cultural appropriation and report them to HR.
Agreed
