I feel like my AT&Ts trolling me….

So I just accepted an offer at Microsoft and was planning to put in my two weeks this upcoming Monday. They boosted my base pay from 88k to 108k at AT&T after AT&T decided they need to boost all pay grades for all tech employees by 30k. 1 YOE SWE So now my base pay for my Microsoft job in Atlanta would be the same. I got offered 108k/100k RSU(over 4 years)/ 31k signing bonus. 164k TC. Do you think it’s worth moving cities for an extra 40k TC? Where most of the TC change is just a signing bonus and a slightly more prestigious company name? #Microsoft #ATT

Microsoft is a better name on the resume and you get TC bump, I'd do it.

Having Microsoft on your resume would give you a big boost in the future

If you informed ATT never look back. Microsoft is a better move.

AT&T Vanquil OP Jul 29, 2021

I haven’t told ATT yet. The hilarious part is I declined a promotion Bc I knew I was gonna take the Microsoft offer. And that offer with the band pay change would’ve been 125k base. Oh well lol

AT&T Vanquil OP Jul 29, 2021

But I agree in general Microsoft is a much better move than just staying at ATT

Go with Microsoft. Opens more doors for the future. What did your interview prep look like for Microsoft? Did you have to apply to a new grad position at Microsoft since you have 1 yoe?

AT&T Vanquil OP Jul 29, 2021

I applied for a general SWE role with 2+ YOE minimum. Im not sure entirely why I qualified for 2 years of experience but I assume it’s because I had 2 years of internship experience right before graduating. So I went in as L60 and not new grad. As for my interview prep, I just did Microsoft tagged Leetcode questions, and the Microsoft assessment/on-site premium thing. I think I did 75% of all easy and medium Microsoft tagged questions. I also interviewed with Amazon but I knew I didn’t really want to work there so I did some prep for that as well but not much. So some of my additional prep did involve system design

Techies are always second class citizens in Telecom. Unless you want to transition into RF role.
