Yesterday I got an offer from Amazon. Is it safe to join? They laid me off in November. Now they wanted to retain me. They told me. It is a long term project for 3 years. This will increase Amazon revenue a lot. I asked them about job safety. They said "No guarantee" But project is long term. Should I join back? I am working with Delloite. I am on an H1B visa. TC New 280K. Seattle.
No
What’s the new tc
Mentioned in post.
What’s the current tc?
Consider the worst case Will the severance pay atleast help you to NOT regret joining back Amazon ?
Valid point
He's on a visa, money won't buy you more time in the country.
Do you like playing with fire?
Are you sure? Should I join back? Or reject the offer.
Accept the offer. There won’t be layoff in teams which are hiring rn. As most of the orgs are in hiring freeze with no backfill
What kinda stuff ur doing at Deloitte?
Working for a client called Humana.
Doing software dev or PM
L5 280K? Even in Seattle that seems low
Yup.
What's a good TC for L5?
What’s your deolite tc and location?
230k
Bay Area.
I wouldn't join rn, there are strong rumors of more layoffs before Q3 ends. Last time they laid off a lot of new hires and people with no projects or projects with little revenue. I would wait it out.
Then what is the exact time to join?
When interest rates recover a bit or something if we have a good quarter. Why do you want to join a place that has hurt you and is planning to hurt you again
Depends on how happy you are with your current tc
