Hey guys. I finally made it. I must talk about myself a little bit. I'm a law school graduate. Last year I graduated from law school but in my last year I was trying to switch to Software development. I was trying to get into bootcamps but even for bootcamps I was getting rejected. I created this topic on blind 1 year ago: https://www.teamblind.com/post/How-am-I-supposed-to-find-a-job-while-i-cant-even-get-into-a-bootcamp-YzbryFpU After graduation I focused on finding a developer job without studying attorney exams and internships. I was jobless for the six months. But I find my first job at december in my home country after six months. But story doesnt end here. While I was working, I applied to Amazon, Microsoft and other big tech companies. Microsoft and Amazon returned to my application. I couldnt passed microsoft interviews because the team I was interviewing were developing an actual database and they asked a lot of concurrency and operating systems questions which I could not answer since I'm not a CS graduate. After this interview I find a book called "Operating Systems Three Easy Pieces" I started reading that. My amazon interview were later than microsoft one. And suprisingly I did well on all rounds and they extend me an offer. And according to my engineering manager, Feedback was very very positive. I'm so happy. I know most of you dont like Amazon but Its huge for me. And I want to thank you all. This platform really opened my eyes. New TC: 100k Euro.
What was your LC prep like?
I solved 200 questions in total. 50 easy. 130 medium and 20 hard. Started with Blind 75 and during interviews I bought leetcode premium and solved company specific questions.
TC??
Updated the post.
Congrats dude! Don’t know if you passed your states BAR, but I’d definitely do that if you’re still able to. Many many companies would love to have an experienced SWE that has a law degree.
I'm planning to do that. But in my country passing the exam is not enough you also need to complete a one year internship. But I will move to different country now so Its a little harder.
Ah didn’t know it wasn’t US. Still congrats dude, hope your career is long and fruitful
Congratulations! What kind of projects did you put on your resume to get calls from Microsoft and Amazon?
Thank you. I had three projects. And my newly found job experience. In the projects section, I had a simple e commerce backend project. But It was very simple. It had register/login, create/ update product, upload files to S3, and adding/ removing items to cart. Didnt have payment or order tracking etc. Simple backend with crud. Second project was a mobile app. It was Whatsapp clone wihtout backend. Just UI. Biggest project was a mobile app that I made during university. It was a social media app like facebook and I made everything by myself. Backend, mobile app etc. In my interviews We mostly talked about this project. I worked on it 1 year but part time since I also needed to study law exams.
Wow very cool. It must have been so challenging and frustrating to do all those projects because you had to start from scratch. You said you solved 200 LC problems. What was your LC attack plan? It is not easy for someone to do 200 problems without knowing DSA!
Well done!!!
Gather some evidence and sue Amazon’s ass!
Lol.
The whole start of the post, especially the "I must talk about myself a bit", gave this a very LinkedIn vibe
As again, just say Amazon instead of FAANG...
But Its faang.
You must be fun at parties @Airwallex. What is Airwallex anyway 🤣
Post Title: FAANG Post content: Amazon
I changed it. I'm not sure why it bothers people.
You don't say you are a world cup contender when you just qualified for the games.
Congratulations
Thank you.
