The man I love hates me because Iβm Vietnamese
Its becoming more and more common for companies to send an online assessment as a first step to filter candidates. Usually it's a Hackerrank or Codility that's given as the first step for the interview process. My friend and I have done a number of online assesments in the past and we have more to do for summer 2021 SWE internships but we seem to be terrible at getting by them. In fact, there hasn't been a time either of us moved onto the next stage. I have done about 50 leetcode problems, 70-80 if you include CTCI and hackerrank problems. However, I seem to still suck at the online assessments. I see others pass the OAs easily and some even cheat, but I found hackerranks to be difficult to search for solutions online. Does anyone else experience this? What would you recommend I do in order to pass these online assessments so I don't fail on my job hunt. #hackerrank #codility #interview #swe
You need to improve your googling skills π
Had a feeling someone was going to say that π these hackerranks are so arbitrary in wording though, with such long narratives it's hard to find keywords to find the underlining algorithm, especially if they tweak it by a bit.
Only 70-80 LC? Those are pathetic numbers. Most people need 200-300. Top performers usually do 600+.
Hmm, I've heard that the number is a bit arbitrary. I focused on quality over quantity when I did the questions (that is focusing on patterns). Is it still necessary to do 200+ ?
Arbitrary, yes. But clearly you can't do the problems. That means you haven't put in the practice.
Practice practice practice
How well do you do on the leetcodes? Are you able to finish a LC medium in 30 min?
Usually it takes me about 35mins, but depending on the question sometimes I can get it under 30
I think you should keep practicing until you can get most of them under 30
