I am going to join a MANGA company soon and I was wondering how would people react if I were to wear a suit in the office. My whole life I worked hard to be successful, I used to watch Harvey Specter on suits and I wanted to be just like him. Unfortunately, I joined an industry that encourages my innate nerd. I don't want to be a nerd anymore, I want to become a Sigma male who asserts his status in every room he's in, and I believe that wearing a suit will help me in that regard. What do you think will happen to me? Do you think my manager will be intimidated? Will I be sent to HR? TC: does not matter cause I'm a top G #engineering #software #swe #/s #suits #sigmamale
Hahahaha
Imagine being a grown up and thinking suit asserts status
Hey now, donât crush his dreams. Next week heâll be asking what colour entry level BMW will get him laid.
What do you mean? it doesn't? Have I been lied to?
Wear a blazer on top and boxers below. Best of both worlds đ„
That's next level, don't know if I'm reading yet
Weâre playing checkers and Qualcomm is playing 3d underwater chess.
Assert dominance. Wear a suit, top hat, and monocle.
Yes, kind sir. Should I add a cane for the dramatic effect?
Yes and work on growing that moustache
Sir suit up and meet me at McLaren's
17:30 sharp đ€”
And also Mike doesn't have Harvard degree, just letting you know before he comes to you for the job
You'll do coding in suit. Looks cool but never seen it before
There's gotta be a first person to do it
Amazon- Have you been to Japan?
Dressing well is a good thing. You will get a few side eyes from losers who cares. Depending on how narrow minded your bosses are and if they dress shabby they may feel jealous.
Hell yeah, this is the way
Lol, no one will be feeling jealous or intimidated. Theyâll just think youâre weird and/or an asshole.
You'll get fired for sure
Lol. I was like you. I came to the US seeing suites. But I've realized, if you want to become a leader - show empathy, be a person who is approachable and communicate well. People should want you to be the leader not the other way round. If you try to be assertive and "Sigma male like" in tech, people will not work for you. Remember your reportees are going to be from Berkeley, Stanford etc. If your CEO himself does not wear a suit, it's also honestly awkward. The only exception here is that you either work in BD or Sales where you may have to meet customers.
This is actually very good advice
General advice is âdress for the job you want to haveâ. I usually dress slightly nicer than that. If everyone is showing up in tshirt and short, wear khakis or jeans and a button down. You definitely donât want to step wildly outside of what is normal in the office. You can be the best dressed in the office, but have limits. If no one else wears a tie or even a collared shirt, youâre going to look absurd coming to work in a suit.
Could work if you look really really sharp and not excessively formal. If you look like your mom dressed you for an interview itâs gonna be weird.
The thing is I only look sharp when my mom dresses me
If your mom dresses you in a way that doesnât look like your mom dressed you, thatâs acceptable.
