Some background, i currently work in Mobile Development using multi-platform libraries and frameworks like Flutter and React Native but to me... Javascript /dart are a drag. When i was first was learning to code i learned C++ and fell in love. But found it impossible to find a job using it due to me not having a college degree. So i switched to learning Javascript(Like everyone it seems) and found a job in that fairly quickly. Any tips on industry i can target? Am i doomed and should just go and get a CS degree? Thank you! ThinkCell in Germany uses C++ for their whole stack. They pay well, sponsor work visas but the scope will be narrow. You can also look into operating systems development companies like Microsoft, Apple, android at google, etc
Join Google. C++ literally sucks. It's like working with a jack hammer might sound fun until you realize what it does to your body. You use the jack hammer out of necessity not out of desire to use it. I think you want to work on backend related work. I suggest either: picking up python, this is popular. Or picking up java, lots of Spring and other back ends. Java is also very respected at Google.
Isn't Google's interview process the toughest around?
Yes. Good luck.
Weird that someone actually wants to use that ugly ass language but ok I guess
I get this alot. Lol
😂
I always feel like a real programmer when I code C++
Then you should try C.
Better yet, assembly
Hedge funds Edit: wrong answer^
not without a degree
And a 4.0 gpa
A ton of companies use C++ mate, but I’m not really sure you fully appreciate how complex and convoluted C++ is in a production environment at scale. I’m a great backend developer, but I am grateful my team doesn’t own any services written in C++.
What do you use ?
Currently mainly Python and Hack with some occasional front-end sprinkled in.
I am the same. I want to work on systems level programming, perf optimization, or core infra. C++ is common for these. Apart from Google, are there any other companies that do this stuff?
Any hardware company.
TC would be 🥜 and I’m pretty sure most HW companies wouldn’t hire someone without C++ experience
Aerospace, FACE compliant organizations
I am in the same boat. It's not so much the love for c++ since it is kinda a mess but the types of projects that use it tend to be much more interesting to work on

Join Google, it's the most used language here.
What kinds of projects use it?
Every thing and anything you can think of, deep infra, systems level engineering. I don't know, I'm a Noogler but yeah, Google is c++heavy.
