Are tech workers as rich as they think we are?
There is hype around bulge bracket banks and their huge bonuses. Also around hedge funds and their astonishing returns. All in USA. Is this a thing of past or exists even now? Also I am a CFA charter holder and an ACCA member. How can I move to USA? #finance #investments #banks #money #hedgefund #h1b #cfainstitute #acca #sellside #ib #interview
They don’t have huge bonuses oeriod.
You are 20 years too late. Tech is where the money is right now. Not with cash bonuses but with Equity / RSUs
You're like 14 years late to the party
IB front office doesn’t care about CFA unless you’re in derivatives or research team. I would practice 3 statement modeling and be able to walk me through a sales pitch on a struggling company and why a blue chip should buy it. Also, don’t take banking advice from any tech person on here. Banking will ALWAYS be where it’s at. Tech firms still need banks, and banks actually hire tons of tech. They say oh I get RSU’s but banking gets straight cash. You can do a lot more with cash in your pocket.
Still Tech RSU is at least thrice of IB cash. No comparison here.
So you’re telling me after your 3-5 year vesting period your shares will be worth more than the 3-5 years of bonuses, equal to 100-200% of income year after year, then invested In markets gaining compounding interest? Okay. Quick note: Banks still issue stock to employees. You just have to be a money maker.
You have been living under rock for a decade
CFA CPA are worthless in today’s high tech world
Even IB is useless in today’s high tech world
Exactly unicorn goes public with direct listing. Not sure the involvement with IB now but must be less?
Bankers do god’s work. Hence god pays them moderately high TC.
Can you assign a number to moderately high?
Analysts make 85-110k base with 60-100% bonus, associates make 125-175k base with 75-125% bonus. This is for HCOL places in BB banks. This probably not the best place to get advice for banking. A forum like WSO would be a better bet.
H1b or from ur current employer try L1
Where are you located at the moment? Also what business are you in
I am currently in India. Working in DB's back office. Supporting Liquidity reporting to regulators.
