Not sure about others, but I recently JUST got a $600 stipend after being here and wfh for over a year. Still have to get every item approved before expensing.
what was the process of getting approved for this?
Basically just emailing my manager and getting a “yes”. Not sure if it’s this way for everyone though.
It is $300 every 6 months, ($600 for the year, but is spaced out, so starting in July means only $300 for you this year). This applies even for new hires. Sadly, the approved monitor selection sux. There have been a lot of new hires and lots are out of stock. You can keep checking the site or buy your own.
There are hundreds of monitors under $299. Goto buy@ibm, go to monitors. Then start using the filters on the left. Ones that say “vendor” simply ship directly from staples, still purchased on buy@ibm
I recently got a monitor and I like it. It's a lenovo 27 inch and it's matte. It was under $300. My manager knew i needed one and ordered it. To make it easier i put the epat request in (at their direction) and then my manager approved. Got to my doorstep in about a week.
How recent? (A former coworker of mine was hired 2 weeks ago and there weren’t any <$300 inventory.)
Did the exact same. They have good monitors for $299 or less. There are a ton of options. Got it in a week after ordering. Got it in April.
legit buy whatever you want from buy@ibm and ask your manager nicely to approve it
Could you buy like keyboard / mouse or even desk and chair?
not sure about desk or chair, you’d wanna search buy@ibm and see what they have. but for sure keyboard and mouse and other accessories or headset. corporate approval can be picky with some items if there’s cheaper alternatives. in the past, when buying a monitor, i picked out an expensive one, around 500$ and made sure to pick one that had unique enough characteristics that there wasn’t a cheaper alternative.
You can buy monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset. Definitely not desk and chair. Allowance is $600/yr ($300 per 6 months). Also can get your WiFi reimbursed due to COVID WFH.
Since when can we get wifi reimbursed? I thought Arvind said during one of his early AMAs IBM isn't doing that because the company isn't making enough profit.
what would the procedure for this look like? both wifi and $300 allowance
I believe you just expense it. WIFI is counted in the $300 allowance.
Lol nope
