I keep seeing IBM pop up all over research. More so, they jump head first trying to monetize fringe tech. What's your take, Blind, do they have the right moonshots, people working on them, and company support? Is IBM research significantly differently from "core" IBM?
Research is very well respected, they are paid well, plus you are incentivized to patent which means revenue streams for life. Wish I could move into Research.
Why havenโt you tried to?
I tried last year, was trying to move onto a project for a client of mine and had lots of leadership support but they are a very closed group. If you know a way in please let me know. Iโd like to work with people who have a brain again (currently GBS)
I agree I have had a similar experience with them. Closed group and rather protected as well
Research is completely different from rest of IBM. Way better. Highest patent in the world every year consistently from IBM.
Whatโs top salary range and perks for someone in band 10 @ IBM in the Bay Area ? Iโm being hired as an AWS Delivery lead architect - 15 YOE in IT .... not to IBM research, unfortunately :)
research is 100,000% different from the rest of IBM, we are actually respected
Mmm, not from any of my fang colleagues. Maybe 20 years ago but IBM isn't #1 in anything today. Not even quantum, sorry to say
Who do you think #1 in Quantum is then?
