Joining Google soon. Wanted to get an idea on the dev environment...
It's slim when not on Windows. Probably be using vim.
Clion is an option
And a good one!
Clion is good; similar to all other JetBrains IDEs.
Eclipse or clion if you have to use ide. But what is so bad with Vim or Emacs
you’re saying it like it’s even a question, emacs of course

Nothing beats visual studio.
good one, I almost fell for this, advanced sarcasm
Srs
Over 50% will use vim or emacs. For server side c++ that is. Because it's just faster in that environment.
All C++ IDEs with the exception of Visual Studio stink. I've done 15 years of C++ on every platform and IDE imaginable. I have accepted that the best you can hope for with C++ is syntax highlighting and good search and replace. I'm pretty happy with Atom/Nuclide btw. The remote development feature is great, much more stable than an SSH or NFS mount.
Due to monorepo, even the simplest project will pull in so much source code or symbols over network that will make any IDE’s advanced features unworkable.
What are you talking about? Just create a CitC workspace then fire up vim. No source code or symbols needed to pull down.
