Assume say a 35 year career. I imagine there has to be some ideal number of job hops over the course of a career where you are not limited by internal management decisions but also are not labeled a serial job hopper. Where do you think the ideal number of hops falls
3-5 in the first 10 years, rest and vest for the next 20(if keep working otherwise just retire
I’m halfway into my tech career with 20 years to go and I’m at 5. Anticipating being forced out a few times into my 50’s.
Hop until you are making $750k TC or equivalent for the time, then ride out the rest of your career until you FIRE or retire
Sounds like a life time hopping
I think I’m addicted to job hopping. There’s just something about being desired…
How often do you hop? Also tc yoe?
4 YOE. 3 hops so far. First 2.5 years I did them all. ~$210k before recent events.
Front load the hops until you reach a TC saturation point, then grind the ladder
🏆
I can attest to this, I live in Chile but made such a huge amount of job hops that I am now making 100k usd TC
