From a recent blind post, the caste thing is intriguing for a non-Indians like me. The fact that you can determine someone’s social status just from names is fascinating, sad, and fucked up all at the same time. That said, could my Indian friends tell me the caste of these names: 1. Brar 2. Rao 3. Saini 4. Reddy 5. Dhaliwal 6. Arora 7. Joshi 8. Singh 9. Khan
If it is fucked up then why do you want to know
ChatGPT knows
lol it’s funny how Indians are so anal about what type of Indian they are but to the rest of the world they’re all the same
I think that’s the same for all nationalities
Other nationalities don't do this lol
If you understand and know how fucked up this is, then why ask what caste these names belong to? Aren't you reinforcing the same negative stereotypes and social connotations?
It’s not just names. Most times it’s a combination of names and mannerisms - atleast in the south. It’s kind of similar to the British classes.
1. Brar. Sikh. Not applicable to Hindu. 2. Rao: highest caste 3. Saini: gujjar, backward caste but not the worst 4. Reddy: highest caste 5. Dhaliwal: relatively high caste 6. Arora: bastard caste. Not high not low. Unclassifiable 7. Joshi: supreme 8. Singh: usually upper 9. Khan: muslim. Not applicable 3. Saini: dedupe
Thank you. The only real answer in this thread.
So how does highest and Supreme differ? Sorry for nit-picking
Caste is made up nonsense and anyone who takes it seriously is an idiot
People in 30s and younger usually don’t take caste seriously anymore. Wait for another decade or two and it will be hopefully obsolete
