Genius over here. Hope they don't accidentally lay you off, what a mistake that would be
Haha
It's ok with me, I'm burnt out ;-)
That will be welcome news for the markets as more layoffs hit the press. Terrible for those involved but a strong catalyst for stock to rebound. Glass half full view
Why terrible. Enjoy a long vacation. Everyone became millionaires in 2021 by trading options
Lol I am in asset management and will be insulated from layoffs in tech but I think we should be sensitive to peoples who’s families and livelihoods are affected. I would take another down year for the market 10 times our of 10 to avoid this downturn.
They said 10% of technology not 10% of entire company
Query the employee table with proper filters plox
Where dept=‘tech’
No one said 20k It's some random clickbait newspaper We haven't had 10k cuts last month, Dave also confirmed in his all hands that the # was a fraction of what was publicly rumored
So there aren’t going to be 10k layoffs? Or was the 10k number including the 6% URA quota?
10k was never a thing No one at our levels know what the actual # is Senior leaders (SVP/VPs may know) 10k could literally be accomplished with bigger URA quotas, we have <350k Corp employees last I checked.
Even People outside Amazon know that those 10k-20k numbers were media crap. No one knows the real numbers
Computer World published that number with no source. Every other publication cited them as the source. They may have already met that 20,000 as thousands of contractors were also fired but wouldn’t technically show as Amazon but as whatever agency they worked for. In some areas up to 50% were contractors.
Corporate has 350K employees. So it’s 18K out of 350K.
