With Amazon's acquisition of Annapurna Lab, Apple's release of M1 chip, and now Microsoft making their own CPU, what's left for Intel's growth? Server business will be snatched by Amazon and Microsoft, and CPU by Microsoft. I really want Intel to come back strong what are your thoughts?
Fantastic question
Intel still make a lot of other stuff like Optane and networking hardware. They are getting squeezed out though.
Optane? It is and will be a loss making catastrophe... until it rides into the sunset in a year or two
People still use Linux (on non-ARM processors) outside of AWS / GCP / whatevs, so maybe they'll still have stability and growth in that regard? (in addition to what otgers posted)
That doesn't sound like growth but rather slow decay.
Intel is already into 5G with HW and SW powering the radios. This is going to be another wave of upgrading like desktop and laptops.
So is Marvell, Qualcomm, and a many other companies. 5G revenues are still too soon to be considered.
Didn’t apple buy intels modem business?
