And Indians realized that there is no future here and took their business elsewhere, what would the consequences be?

FWIW, I do have a horse in the game.

They cannot. They have kept developing for more than 70 years and still keep poverty.

What immigrants like you think doesn't matter how the policy should be. Tell me why the tech industry is pushing for diversity, giving opportunity to the minorities. Talent is not everything, there is always some kind of bias, manipulation etc. This country cap thing in GC actually worked pretty well to ensure fairness to non-Indian folks. How the hell the body shop ICC's get their PERM approved? Do they hire any non Indians? The way they pass the labor market test is the biggest scam. GC is the only carrot for those body shop workers, they didn't have to compete with any non Indian folks, got those jobs pretty easily. Exclude those scammers from the GC queue, your wait time will go down drastically. If country cap was not there, it would have been a disastrous unfair system.

@hooli.xyz, they will never talk about these low skilled immigrants as long as they are 'diverse'. This is the nation of affirmative action. In fact, companies have started enforcing diversity quotas and hiring managers are defending themselves backwards to hit those absurd targets. Good luck trying to ship serious products any more.

The Dick move in the Senate was the last nail in the coffin for our GC hopes. Dick said something silly like increase the number of GCs grsnted each year.

Guys every one needs to chill out. This is not a nation war. So please stop racist remarks and calling names. Let's not stoop to their level

Enjoy the drama and have no expectations

Life is not fair. Decide what's best for you. No point stressing over these external things not in your control

Enjoy your stay in US and if we are kicked out or decide to move out we still have a country which is not under constant terrorism or any other unlivable conditions.

I am not a very religious person but this msg resonates

"In the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna says that one must do one's duties, but one has no control over the fruits. Nor must one claim any right to the results."

We all have an obligation to our community and country/host country. Regardless of your status: illegal, h1b, gc, citizen. We all benefit from this place, in one way or another and I think you would agree. You belong here if you work activity to contribute to this nation both in the form of your professional skill and out of your own good will. The second part about own good will is what is lacking. Without it, it’s makes all the skilled workers coming to the us for the sole purpose of financial gain and seeking a better life, selfish. Do more than believe in yourself, find something in the country to believe in.

Companies will be forced to invest more outside the US. We already see places like Canada and London seeing a surge in FANG locations. Eventually, there will be more people hired outside of the US. One might say that this is actually good. But this seems similar to outsourcing to me. In the end the money is leaving the local economy. Meanwhile the average American Joe is still struggling, no change in his quality of life. So Americans can really choose one of those 2 things. Immigration or outsourcing.

Those companies are for hiring qualified ppl there not only for Indians. Thank you and pls take humble. You are not everything

WalU80: Being qualified and being Indian are 2 distinct things. There are qualified Indians and then there are unqualified Indians. No one is forcing businesses to hire unqualified peoppe no matter where they come from. At the same time, the businesses dont care where people come from as long as they are qualified. What are you trying to say exactly?

If S386 didn't pass that means more culturally-diverse work force is allowed into the US. US college graduates will have better job prospects -- definitely a good thing!

The purpose of H1B is not to have diversity. There is already a separate diversity visa lottery, which Indians are not eligible for. The purpose of H1B is to hire skilled labor, thats it.

Who thinks skin deep diversity is a good thing? As people in tech, we must celebrate diversity in thought and approach. Hiring a minority for the sake of it will turn tech into the entertainment business.

why so many Indians just flood into the state?
I see a lot of bright Indian engineers and it’s such a shame none of them is kept inside their own country.

Again, it’s really a shame when the brightest of a country just work to serve other nations.

I agree about them clogging up the line. However, how is it that Americans can't solve IT right here? General population so incompetent, huh?

My, oh my. Critical thinking is weak on this boy.

Have you ever considered that most Americans are not willing to slave away ungodly hours for paltry wages in IT? Most Americans value finance, business, sales, and marketing more. You know, fields that pay much better than IT.

If people start moving outside of US then companies would hire more outside US like someone mentioned. So you’d be paying taxes in that country you are living in according to those laws. So US economy would have an impact. How big of an impact is debatable cause people still would come to US.

Unless if there is a recession, in which case, many Indians would be leaving the country to Canada or India or Europe. That would have a terrific impact on US economy. Again, under the assumption that there are many layoffs.

The impact of this bill being passed or not is irrelevant. Sad thing is to see your taxes paid in US are not useful for you because you won’t get a GC. Not that your fault but the fault of those who abused the system.

While US is doing nothing to fix it, Indian people are just going to have to live under constant pressure of getting kicked out of the country, no matter how good of a school you went or which top company you work for.

Your question is very subjective OP.

The US might be great in theory, but most of my tax Dollars are used up in a fruitless war somewhere in the middle east. QoL is on par with an East Asian developing country.

So you're upset that you rolled the dice and came to this country as a non-citizen and then are bummed out that your taxes aren't allowing you to stay? LMFAO. Those are some big balls.

  • The thing is nothing will change. It didn’t stop all the guys from India to migrate before why would it now?
But everything will change if it passes.

    • Google, I didn’t say it’s bad or good. There are two sides here and the topic is really sensitive.
Your comparison is a bit off though, do you understand you put slavery and working visa situation on the same line?
      Sep 25, 2019
    • I won’t benefit from any of the outcomes actually. So I don’t take any sides. I’m just a spectator who’s trying to predict what happens to this country and immigration situation if this bill passes.
