If google loses search market share, Sundar Pichai must go.
Google could have released bard years ago and improved yet but now a 100m people use ChatGPT. If google had released it then no one would have cared about ChatGPT even if it was slightly better. Google has only itself to blame. If bing goes from 9% market share to 20+ then google will lose significant revenue and I think in that case Sundar Pichai must go. Hopefully that day never comes. For a giant public company like Alphabet, you cannot throw a half-baked chat AI to the market to test the water. I think what Sundar did is optimal. He proposed strategy shifts as soon as ChatGPT gained fame. The only issue is the Bard marketing error.

Familiarity always wins unless the new thing is super compelling. Right now it's the tech nerds getting a hard on for Bing and chatGPTs potential. Long way to go before the rest of the common folks get that same level of excitement.
I will always google to check if my internet is working also google is default in each android phone so only tech enthusiasts use Bing thats hardly any when compared to reality. So google is not going anywhere
Also this chatgpt is just popular more between students for thier hws, it is useless for dev engineers - stackflow is better for dev anyday, it is fun while it lasts
Chatgpt is like alexa when it came out , it became popular, and is just another tool which will be used when needed in our daily lives

Google has an ecosystem, gmail YouTube, android/chrome defaults etc. it’s hard for its revenue to hit meaningfully or make users stick with Bing longer than the initial excitement period.
