Remote jobs ≠ Outsourcing?
Very logical conclusion
Outsourcing will never work because the US will step in from a regulatory standpoint before it could ever really take hold. For that matter H1B policies are on their last legs
You think the US government cares about workers over corporate profits? lol, ask the blue collar workers how much the government did to stop their jobs from being offshored. Tech workers are no more important to the government, it’s just taking time for foreign talent to catch up and be ready for massive offshoring. The ruthless efficiency of the market spares no one in the long run.
Those “blue collar workers” elected Trump, who bravely took a stand against this. In 2024 there should be another Republican president and also a senate supermajority if things stick to the current trajectory
Outsourcing has been a viable option for the last 30 years. It hasnt taken over because it has tradeoffs just like anything else.
Not for every position. A lot of roles can’t be some from other countries (like customer facing). And the time difference will always be an issue. I have customers with dev teams in India but there not gonna completely outsource it
Outsourcing is good for some things (e.g. 24 hour coverage) but the downsides are timezone and language barriers. You can find compatible timezones (e.g. Caribbean, South America) or language (e.g UK, Australia) or even both timezone and language (e.g. Canada, Caribbean) but the cost goes up.
What?
If most US workers want to WFH, why not just hire SWEs from cheaper countries?
Time Difference is a problem
